Maurice E. St. Clair, Jr. was born on March 18, 1947 to parents Maurice E. and Glenyes (Smith) St. Clair, Sr.  Sadly, Maurice’s father was tragically killed in an automobile accident before Maurice was born.

Maurice has lived in the Town of Lyman practically his entire life.  He and his wife, Nancy raised their family here.  The St. Clair’s home is the house that Maurice lived in as a child with his mother and grandparents in the late 40’s and early 50’s.

Maurice has been actively involved in community service for the town for over 55 years, serving in a multitude of capacities.  He has been a member of the Budget Committee for 36+ years and served as the town’s Road Commissioner for over 35 years.

In our interview, Maurice shares several stories about his life in Lyman.  Among them are his memories of how his family dealt with the ’47 fire and his school experience with long time teachers Alice Elwell and Edith Goodwin.  Maurice also shares his thoughts on the community’s involvement in town affairs.
