Albert and Dorothy Riche

The Society is very fortunate to have in our archives an interview of long time Lyman residents Albert and Dorothy Riche. In the interview, which was conducted by their then neighbor Timothy Braun on April 9, 1989, the Riches share their experiences and memories of the devasting fire of 1947.
In the interview the Riches share several stories of how they and their neighbors acted and were affected by the fire that swept through various areas of the town. Albert describes the raging fires as sounding like the Atlantic Ocean as it came through, followed by 3 days of heavy smoke.
Although the Riches have long since passed (Dorothy in 1994 and Albert in 1997) we are pleased and honored to be able to share their voices and their stories with you. You may click on either of the playback items. Both will bring you to the interview. Enjoy!
