OUR MISSION

“To collect, preserve and publish information that may be related to the early and late history of the Town of Lyman and to foster an appreciation, interest and curiosity about the history of our community.”

OUR HISTORY

In August, 2017 a handful of interested people got together at the Community Library to explore the possibility of establishing a historical society in the Town of Lyman. According to meeting attendees, attempts had been made in the past to establish such a society but, for various reasons it never came to fruition.

Since that initial meeting, both interest and participation has increased considerably. We have grown from just a handful of people in 2017 to upwards of 3 times that many at our regularly scheduled monthly meetings.  Additionally, our membership roster continues to grow with the number of members increasing by more than double the number in 2018.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of those who have become involved, we’ve come a long way in a relatively short time.  In early 2018 we successfully met all of the state and federal requirements to become an incorporated nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization.

While the Society’s primary charge is to collect, preserve and publish information relating to the Town of Lyman, we are also committed to developing and sponsoring informative and fun activities and events focused on promoting the community’s interest in the Town.

Anyone with a genuine interest in Lyman’s town history is invited to join us.  We welcome your support – whether it’s through active participation, donation or volunteering, every little bit helps!

We currently meet every 3rd Tuesday of the month at Arion Lodge #162 442 Goodwins Mills Road, Lyman, Maine at 6 PM.  Come check us out!
